Episode 1
The academy dorm building loomed ahead, tall and steel-gray, its windows reflecting the pale sky like watchful eyes. Students—no, agents—stood scattered across the courtyard, duffel bags at their feet, eyes darting everywhere as if expecting an ambush instead of orientation. Some whispered excitedly, others stood stiff and alert, already in mission mode. A few gods leaned casually against the railing like this was just another immortal Tuesday.
At the front of the steps stood Agent Crimson, hands clasped behind her back, posture sharp and commanding, yet her lips curved with a knowing smile, like she was enjoying the chaos just a little too much. And she probably was.
Beside her was Agent Batman.....or rather, Myskai, within school grounds.
She looked… unbothered. Leaning slightly to one side, chewing aggressively on a mint (no one knew where she kept getting them from), tapping her boot in a steady rhythm. Every few seconds, she adjusted her gloves even though they were already perfectly snug. A habit. Or a warning. Hard to tell.
Crimson cleared her throat, and the murmurs slowly died.
“Hello agents, spies, gods, and everyone in between,” she announced, her voice slicing cleanly through the air. “Today is the day we start at the academy and begin our goal of stopping the villains.”
A few shoulders straightened. Someone actually fist-pumped. Someone else looked like they might pass out.
Myskai pushed herself upright and added, “Everyone here has already been enrolled and assigned to dorms.” She paused, squinted at the clipboard in her hands, then muttered, “Which I alphabetized. Twice. Don’t ask.”
Crimson shot her a look. Myskai shrugged and popped another mint.
“And remember,” Crimson continued, “within the school, you must call me Roselyn, and call Batman—” she gestured casually, “—Myskai. Unless we’re outside class grounds, you mustn’t call each other agents, or things could get messy.”
Myskai nodded sharply. “By messy, she means memory wipes, disciplinary drills, and paperwork so bad it’ll haunt your dreams.”
A collective gulp rippled through the crowd.
“But same goes for outside of school grounds,” Myskai added, tapping the clipboard against her palm. “You can’t call us by our student names on missions. That is strictly prohibited. Understood?”
A loud, slightly panicked, “YES!” echoed back.
Crimson smiled, satisfied. “Good. Now we’ll move on to your dorm numbers and roommates. Bat?”
Myskai smirked, flipped a page dramatically, and finally looked up at the group. “Alright,” she said. “Let’s see who you’re stuck with....and who you’ll probably end up saving the world with.”
“So without further adieu,” Crimson began, voice smooth but carrying just enough drama to keep everyone hooked. “We've got Ace, Amber, and Aziza in room 385.”
Ace let out a low whistle. Amber bumped Aziza’s shoulder with a grin, while Aziza adjusted her bag like she’d already mentally mapped the room and its exits.
Myskai scanned her clipboard, then nodded once.“In room 354, we’ve got Birdie, J, and Elara.”
Birdie raised both hands like she’d just won a game. J gave a short, approving nod, while Elara blinked twice, clearly realizing she now had to share a space with two people and a whole lot of secrets.
Crimson continued without missing a beat. “In room 349, we’ve got Stra, S.S.Water, Kosmo, and Riddhima.”
That one caused a stir. Kosmo nearly dropped her bag, Stra smirked like this was already entertaining, and Riddhima muttered something under her breath that sounded suspiciously like a threat. S.S Water just waved, completely unfazed.
Myskai cleared her throat and flipped the page....then froze
“And in room 698, we’ve got Arthur and Lil Bill who will be with Crimson’s brother, Ryder, along with…two other regular students, it seems.”
She looked up slowly, one eyebrow arching.
“Crim” She said, tilting her head, mint crunching audibly between her teeth, “I thought you fixed this up? Why’re they still with two non-relations?”
Crimson let out a quiet sigh, rubbing her temple like she was already filing out a mental complaint.
“Yeah, I tried,” She said, her voice carrying across the courtyard. “But the administration office said they couldn’t spare any more rooms than what they had already given. We’ll just have to keep some extra precautions around them.” Her gaze sharpened as it landed on the group in question. “Got that Arthur? Bill? And wherever the heck that brother of mine is.”
Arthur gave a quick, serious nod. Lil Bill lifted up a thumb “Got it!” And somewhere near the back, a voice muttered, probably Ryder, “I’m literally here,” Which Crimson promptly ignored.
Myskai clapped her hands once. “Lastly, Crimson and I will be in room 333. So if you need to find us, that’s where we’ll be.”
Few agents exchanged glances- of course they would be in a room like that.
Crimson stepped back, giving a final look over the crowd. “Now off you go agents. Classes start tomorrow.”
Just like that, the formation broke. Bags were hoisted, arguments about the elevator began immediately, and the courtyard filled with noise as everyone filtered towards the dorm building. Within moments the place was almost empty.
Almost.
Crimson and Myskai stayed behind watching the last one of them go into the building. Crimson turned towards Myskai, her expression lighter and less tense.“I got us that other basement level room as well” She says quietly, “Room EEE. We’ll meet there in an hour.” She paused, then added. “And bring it with you.”
Myskai’s jaw set for a moment before she nodded. “Got it. By the way, any idea where they got snacks or something? I am hungry.”
